Nieu Bethesda Klein Geluk offers accommodation in Nieu-Bethesda in a private, peaceful space for the discerning traveller. This original Karoo Cottage is situated at the foot of the mountain in Nieu-Bethesda and was built pre-1877 in the Brakdak tradition of the Karoo with whitewashed clay walls.

Self Catering Accommodation

Nieu Bethesda Klein Geluk is a self catering cottage that is set in a large garden and can sleep three adults in two bedrooms or two adults and two children under the age of 10.

The main bedroom contains a four-poster, Queen-size bed and the second bedroom has a three-quarter bed. The bathroom is fitted with a bath, basin and toilet.

The kitchen is well-equipped with a fridge-freezer, stove, oven, microwave, Nespresso Machine (please bring your own capsules) and washing machine. Wall-heating panels provide heat in winter and the lounge has a combustion fireplace which invites guests to curl up on the sofa with a good book or simply relax. Wi-Fi is available.

Outside the cottage is a seating area with a boma braai. Guests can cool down in the lovely farm dam, enjoy a refreshing outdoor shower, enjoy a braai behind the cottage and unwind in the crescent-shaped alcove where guests can soak up the sun. Guests are also welcome to pick roses and or harvest vegetables and fruit on the property.

There is parking on the premises, as well as an alarm system.

The Area

Some 60 km from Graaff-Reinet, Nieu-Bethesda is in essence completely isolated, with only two roads in and out of the village. Established in 1875 and named by the preacher Andrew Murray, Nieu-Bethesda was eclipsed by larger towns during the 1930s and ‘40s and became quite impoverished. It lies in a narrow valley, has no street lights and is only about one mile wide and two miles long - home to less than a thousand people.
