About Prior Grange Guest Farm
When traveling along the N1 in the Southern Free State, consider pausing your journey to experience the timeless hospitality at Prior Grange, a historic working farm.
Ideally located between Gauteng, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Cape Coast, Prior Grange has been a family-owned farm since 1854. The current proprietors, Blackie and Sheryl de Swardt, warmly invite you to immerse yourself in the rich heritage of their farm and enjoy authentic Karoo hospitality.
Self-Catering Accommodation
Guests at Prior Grange are welcomed into five charming, uniquely decorated cottages nestled in the garden. Each cottage offers privacy, en-suite facilities, and an outdoor seating area.
Our cottages are fully equipped to meet all your accommodation needs, and you are welcome to enjoy our picturesque sandstone pool.

Magnificent! From the friendly host Blackie (with abundance of cricket and historical knowledge) to the ambiance (ancient poplar and oak tries, apple orchard, very comfortable well furnished cottage). And of course the pub, the museum and the tasty dinner (Karoo lamb of course) and breakfast - completing this idilic picture. Will be back!

A beautiful gem in the middle of nowhere (but still a good choice for an over night stay and just a slight detour when on your way to the Cape or back) with tons of history, beautiful buildings and gardens. Quiet and restful. Friendly owners, warm, clean and an excellent dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer.
