About Random Harvest Country Cottages
Set in Muldersdrift, Johannesburg on a gorgeous country retreat we offer you a uniquely central location whilst retaining an authentic country atmosphere. Our secure oasis of peace and tranquility will transport you to a magical world away from the busy life.
A small dairy herd provides fresh farm milk, cream and homemade butter. We also supply tea, filter coffee, sugar and home baked rusks for you each day. Our pride is reflected in the spotlessness of our cottages, and the high level of maintenance is mandatory and essential in making your visit as comfortable as if you were in your own home.
ACCOMMODATION
Our cottages will allow you to relax and rejuvenate in finely furnished comfort and a thrilling and beautiful environment. Plunge into your own luxurious bedroom, with soft pillows and fine linens. Enjoy the luxury of delightful bathrooms and revel in the privacy of sunset dining in your own indigenous garden. The smell of “braaivleis” amidst the country sounds of birds and animals is almost a forgotten fantasy for Local South Africans.
Bathrooms:
Lavender Tree Cottage has a bath and shower while Yellowwood Cottage only has a shower. Sagewood, Lemon Thorn, Wild Olive, Bushwillow and Rock Fig have full bathrooms with separate baths and showers. Sweet Thorn offers you the ultimate bathing experience with its lavish corner bath. In all our bathrooms you can expect superior quality towels, and a delightful bathroom box consisting of soap, hand cream, shampoo, shower cap, and other helpful necessities.
Kitchens:
Excluding Wild Olive and Rock Fig, all the cottages have kitchens that are fully equipped including a microwave. They are provided with fresh farm milk, homemade butter and cream daily. We also top up the filter coffee, tea, sugar and rusks daily. Wild Olive and Rock Fig have only a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities including the fresh farm milk etc. All cottages include braai (BBQ) facilities, and we will provide the charcoal and prepare the fire, if, it be your wish.
The Bedroom and Lounge:
All cottages include comfy beds with fine mattresses and quality linens. Each cottage has a unique style of décor and soft furnishings. Lavender Tree is our biggest, and has a large bedroom for two as well as a comfortable day bed in the lounge area for another person.
Wild Olive and Sweet Thorn Cottages offer an interleading door, as do Bushwillow and Rock Fig for larger families. Sagewood, Bushwillow and Wild Olive Cottages are wheelchair friendly. DSTV is strategically placed in each cottage, lest we forget about our sports enthusiasts or Movie Lovers.
Outside the Cottages:
Patios give way to private indigenous gardens and melodious sounds of nature. Sit, braai, but mostly enjoy the peace and tranquility as they seep into your soul.

BREAKFAST & DINING
Breakfast and light lunches are served at the Waterlily Tea Garden, or alternatively meals can be delivered to your cottage. For restaurant lovers there are top class restaurants within a five kilometer radius. Choices include the famous Casalinga Italian Restaurant and the more family orientated Alfresco Restaurant.
THE FARM
Random Harvest Farm has been our home for 36 years. It boasts 21ha and has vast numbers of mature indigenous trees, although there are still a few exotics such as 100 year old oaks.
Our Italian heritage embraces the importance of having our own fresh produce and thus we have our own cows, chickens, fruit and vegetables. Our family believes in bottling, preserving and making sure that none of the “good stuff” goes to waste.
Geese wander freely in the nursery where they help to keep weeds and pesky annual grasses down. A stroll will lead you to the sweet blackcurrant eyed calves that children love so much, and a little further on are our graceful cows. Dare to daydream again as you watch our farmyard splendor! A fascinating dance of birds, butterflies and insects with their plant partners will enchant your senses as relaxation begins to set in.
Activities on the farm: The most important activity is to relax and enjoy our magic! For the more energetic, there's walking, bird watching and learning about our amazing plants from the interesting information boards in the retail nursery. If you have children take them to watch the cows being milked or to play in the sandpit.

I booked the venue last minute dot com and was so glad that I did. I recently lost my husband and felt that I needed to get away for some quiet and reflective time. Random Harvest was definitely the place to go. The seed bells hanging in the trees attracted such beautiful birds. I was able to sit on my little patio and enjoy the serenity of my surrounding whilst enjoying a nice hot cup of coffee. Oooooh yes and let me not forget to mention the fresh cream, milk and rusks that were delivered to my cottage. In addition, right outside my window was a paddock with cows. How often do you find that! Thank you Random Harvest for such a wonderful 2 days. The staff and accommodation exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be coming back - this time with my parents in tow xxx

The fully equipped kitchen did not have an oven, only a two plate stove so the food we took along had to be cooked in very creative way however, this did not deter much from our wonderful stay. The unit was spotless, the surrounds stunning. Our stay was a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle and we didn't have to travel far for this. We will definitely return.
