Rockwood Farm House is a four bedroom luxurious, contemporary and spacious holiday home in Karkloof. The private Karkloof Nature Reserve is a short drive away. Explore the weirs, dams, birds, fish, hike or mountain bike. The Farm House is located on the same property as Rockwood Farm Cottage.

Self Catering Accommodation

Rockwood Farm House offers exclusive-use holiday accommodation in Karkloof for four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two rooms have King-size beds and the other two have twin beds. One bathroom has an indoor bath and an outdoor shower and the other two bathrooms have a bath and a shower. All rooms have heaters, tea and coffee making facilities, insect repellent, soap, shampoo and linen. All accommodation is serviced on a daily basis.

The house lets the sights and sounds of nature in through large frameless glass doors in the living areas and offers stunning views of the indigenous forest and farmlands.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge/freezer, oven, microwave and cutlery and crockery for 12 people. The living area has a fireplace and there is a 32″ Flat Screen TV with a selected range of DSTV channels.

Relax on comfy sun loungers, splash in the dam or walk in the beautifully landscaped country garden. Unwind in front of fireplaces or play ping-pong and games in the attic!

Activities

Guided Mountain Biking Tours:
The Karkloof is excellent MTB country and host to the biggest mountain-biking event in South Africa, the Karkloof Classic Race. We'd gladly book a guided tour for you with Hylton Turvey, the race designer. Alternatively, explore the area on your own through a series of self-guided trails in the private Karkloof Nature Reserve.

Karkloof Canopy Tour:
As this kicks off within our reserve, we've negotiated a 15% discount for guests of Rockwood. A must-do on your holiday itinerary!

Hiking:
Bring good hiking gear and you'll be able to explore the reserve fully as you work your way between mistbelt forest and grassland, up and down steep inclines and over slippery rocks. Just chill out and take a leisurely stroll along some romantic farm roads…You choose.

Birding:
The area has several rare and endemic species of birds and is listed in the Roberts CD. Birding on the forest fringes and streams can offer some excellent rewards to birders. Some of the more elusive species found are the Cape Parrot, Narina Trogon, Crested Guinea Fowl (sub-species) and the Crowned Eagle.

Fishing:
There are several weirs and dams within and adjacent to the reserve which are well stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Bring your own rods.

Children's Play Area:
Watch your kids be kids on the trampoline or jungle gym.
