About Rogge Cloof Stables

The Stables offers accommodation in Sutherland ideal for two families or a large group. The Rogge Cloof Private Nature Reserve is a registered Biosphere Reserve, with free-roaming game and cheetahs. Located at an altitude of between 1400 to 1700 metres, with magnificent clear skies and expansive plains, Rogge Cloof Guest Farm is home to the greatest heavens on earth.

Self Catering Accommodation

The Rogge Cloof Stables are comfortable two-bedroom family units overlooking the Eco-Village waterhole.

Each unit offers two bedrooms, one is furnished with a King-size bed and the other is furnished with twin beds. There are also two day beds in the living area. There are two bathrooms, each fitted with a shower, basin and toilet.

There is an open-plan kitchen and dining area, with table, fridge and gas stove.

Rogge Cloof operates on solar power and the solar electricity supply system does not accommodate appliances such as hair dryers, coffee makers, fans, microwave ovens, or electric kettles. Power sockets for recharging phones and laptops are available. There is Free Wi-Fi but No TV.

There is a braai area outside and ample under roof parking next to the unit.

Breakfast & Dining On Site

Breakfast and dinner are available daily in the Rittersaal Dining Hall. The Rittersaal is not a Restaurant; it is a guest Dining Hall. Breakfast and a 3-course dinner are served daily at specified times.

Please Note

The Reserve has gravel roads, which are accessible to ordinary sedan vehicles at most times. During rainy or snow weather, SUV or 4x4 vehicles are recommended.

The Area

Mention the town of Sutherland and most people will know that this is the place people go to look at the skies. And they would be right. Almost 120 kilometres due north of Matjiesfontein in the Roggeveld of the Karoo, Sutherland is a space of clear, dark night skies. It's where one can marvel at the star scapes that sweep the outer limits, and where astronomers come to use the telescopes of the South African Astronomical Observatory.
