About Somkhanda Game Reserve

Somkhanda Game Reserve offers accommodation in Mkuze and is a community-owned Big 5 game reserve located in northern Zululand stretching across 12,000 hectares of rolling hills and natural bushland habitat. Somkhanda is home to white and black rhino, impala, greater kudu, giraffe, and an extraordinarily high density of leopard compared to any other reserve in Africa.

Accommodation

Somkhanda Game Reserve offers a choice of rooms at the lodge or in the tented camp.
The lodge offers standard rooms and family rooms each tastefully decorated and with en-suite bathrooms. The units have access to a communal kitchen, two separate bomas (braai areas) and a lovely pool area. (Please bring your own pool towels).

The Bush Camp is an unfenced camp with 5 homely decorated tents erected in a laager formation around a large fire pit. There is an added 5 x 5 relaxing lounge tent where one can chill, read a book or play board games. Although wild this romantic gem of a camp still offers creature comforts with its comfy beds and hot showers.

On Site Facilities

Enjoy a dip in the magnificent pool, but don't forget to bring your towel. Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant and reception area. Game drives can be arranged at reception.

At the end of a long day's game viewing there are few things better than an ice cold beer and a delicious meal in the relaxed atmosphere of our Khululeka Restaurant which serves hearty authentic bush meals. Please note that pre-booking is necessary. No cash accepted on site. Card facility available.
