Stone Cottage at Olive Stone is a property for self catering in Montagu for up to 2 guests visiting the Breede River Valley region.
The Stone Cottage at Olive Stone offers accommodation in Montagu on a small, working farm at the centre of town. What the farm lacks in size and history it more than makes up for in its warmth, character, beauty and attention to detail. Shops, supermarkets and restaurants are all within walking distance of the cottages.
Stone Cottage is a self catering holiday cottage in Montagu entirely built from locally-sourced stone. The cottage is furnished with a King-size bed or twin beds. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet and basin and there is also a hot outdoor shower. Basic locally produced soaps and creams, vanity kit, towels and a hairdryer are provided.
Inside the cottage is spacious with a fireplace, small lounge and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a gas oven and stove to allow the cottage to be as off-grid as much as possible (no microwave).
Enjoy an outside braai, sun lounger, umbrella and a beautiful private natural plunge pool, just for you on those hot Karoo days. There is also a Kolkol hot tub available for guests.
An eat-in Breakfast Basket can be delivered to your cottage at an additional cost and must be requested 24 hours in advance. Includes a beautiful selection of honey, fruit, yoghurt, muesli, cold meats, cheese, butter, jam, croissant and orange juice.
Lovingly transformed from what was once simply a piece of land populated with olive trees, into a working farm that is home to 3 wonderful stone guest cottages, a hand-packed stone barn and animal kraal, a thriving vegetable garden, natural, stone swimming pools, cows, chickens and sheep, and even a tamed guinea fowl or two.
Olive Stone Farm produces its own delicious olive oil, bottled olives, butter, milk, cream (when available), vegetables (guests are welcome to make use of the vegetable and salad garden), lamb and eggs.
What is loadshedding? It refers to the temporary suspension of electricity provided by Eskom, South Africa's electricity provider, to reduce consumption and thereby the load on the national grid. To compensate, South African property owners are turning to solar power, inverters with backup batteries or in some cases generators to keep the power on, wherever feasible.
