Nestled at the foot of the Swartberg mountains lies the eternal charm of the Swartberg Country Manor. Swartberg Country Manor is nestled on the farm "Voorbedacht" situated in the Cango Valley at the foot of the world-renowned Swartberg Mountain Pass. The picturesque Swartberg Mountains will bring comfort to anyone that wants to "get away from it all" and simply soak up the peace of its tranquil surroundings.

Accommodation

Swartberg County Manor offers 25 comfortable en-suite guest rooms. The Historical House (1864) has four enchanting rooms overlooking a fig orchard. The Main House offers 11 stylish rooms, with breathtaking panoramic mountain views from the open lounge. A further nine rooms are set in true Karoo style cottages, with a dreamy honeymoon suite to top it all.

Combining classical styles with modern touches, we employ our guests to share in our charming history which dates back to 1864, and our desire is that your stay in your chosen room will be an unforgettably charming experience.

Your stay with us would not be complete without enjoying a fusion of flavours from our restaurant's kitchen. Guests who stay with us can wake up to the aromas of a freshly cooked breakfast and linger a little longer on the rolling lush grounds of the manor with an exquisite picnic sourced from local providers – allowing you to experience real country fare. Round-off your evenings by enjoying a sundowner on the open deck of the restaurant and watch the Karoo sun paint the mountain in various shades of crimson.

For some, your stay with us may be one of rest and relaxation, for others, we are the perfect base for a multitude of local activities. We are ideally situated close to the world-renowned Cango Caves and it's a mere 15km drive to the top of the Swartberg Pass for unparalleled views of the Cango Valley.

Seeking a little adventure? Why not hike in the Gamkaskloof – or as the locals call it, "Die Hel" (The Hell). This hidden valley features many historical points of interest as well as being home to many beautiful Fish Eagles. For cycling and walking fans, numerous trails run from the manor, from gentle, leisurely excursions, to more rugged terrain.
