Tangala Safari Camp is a highly recommended Limpopo game lodge providing a wildlife experience for discerning anyone visiting Valley of the Olifants.
Tangala Safari Camp is one of the last remaining authentic experiences in South Africa. This intimate and exclusive private safari camp is situated in the 22 000 acre Thornybush Reserve, a prime ecological area abundant with wildlife.
Tangala Safari Camp has succeeded in maintaining its earthly appeal after the recent upgrading of the facilities. At Tangala Safari Camp we have created the feel of an Africa long forgotten, and our team strives to give all guests the ultimate African bush experience. The biodiversity of the reserve attracts a wide variety of wildlife including the ‘Big 5'. Our staff includes well-trained and experienced rangers who will share with you one of Africa's most splendid ecosystems.
Tangala has striking views of the Drakensberg Mountains and is closed to the Orpen Gate of the world famous Kruger National Park. The camp consists of a central dining and lounge area with full bar and a swimming pool with a deck. Hot water is provided at all times with traditional old-fashioned "donkey-boilers" (geysers).

From the minute we landed at Hoedspruit airport until the departed our holiday was sensational. Not being a morning person I was concerned about the early rises (5.30am) but I was amazed not only was it easy but I actually looked forward to getting up out of bed! The camp is neat, clean, welcoming and comfortable. The food plentiful and tasty, the service....... well how could anyone complain about the cheerful, friendly and very fast service. The staff are friendly and very helpful, our hosts Budgie and Gaynor were relieving staff (but love the park and have been many times), the service and professionalism could not be faulted. We stayed 5 nights, I would have stayed longer if possible. The game drives are amazing, the guide (budgie) makes everyone feel safe, his driving ability makes you feel very confidant that you are in good hands, his knowledge of the animals is second to none. Our tracker Bennet (and my personal spider catcher) was such a delight, if the animals are around Bennet will find them, his charm and cool calm and collected manner makes you feel very safe. Not only did we see the big 5 but I think we saw the big 15, every animal seemed to be in the area and I have so many wonderful photo's to keep as a reminder of our fantastic african adventure. I have spoken to friends who have been on similar trips who were disappointed at the variety and numbers of animals that they saw on game drives, not so with Tangala, I can happily boast that we saw every animal promised plus many more. I couldn't recommend highly enough Tangala, I hope to return to this wonderful place.
