About The Border Post

The Border Post is situated on top of Oliviershoek Pass on the R74. Accommodation is offered in comfortable bed and breakfast rooms, all with incredible views over the Drakensberg range of mountains.

Accommodation

The Border Post has seven en suite rooms all with tea and coffee facilities. The rooms are made up of six twin / double rooms and one family room that sleeps four (has a king and 2 single beds, 3 twin bedded rooms and 3 double bedded rooms). There is also a private guest lounge and fireplace. Tea / Coffee facilities in all rooms. Heating and hot water bottles in all rooms.

The rooms are housed in a beautiful 90 year old stone farm house and are within close proximity to the restaurant, The Border Post, with pub and fireplace, dining room and fireplace, and beautiful wide veranda around the house.

Activities

There are acres of unspoilt mountain wilderness to hike or mountain bike in, as well as world class Yellowfish on fly in the adjoining Sterkfontein Dam. We are 40 minutes drive from the Royal Natal National Park.

From here you have direct access to The Sterkfontein Dam for fishing and boating, hiking and walking, mountain bike trails, magnificent views of the Northern Drakensberg Amphitheatre and The Sterkfontein Dam.

We are surrounded by history: the Great Trek came through our front garden in 1837 and the Boers used our back garden to sneak in and out of Natal during the Anglo Boer War in 1901.

The San or Bushmen folk hunted and camped out on our stream!
