About The Santos Express

Located overlooking Santos Beach in Mossel Bay, The Santos Express is a genuine train lodge offering accommodation with a difference! All cabins face the sea and boast spectacular sea views. Known as ‘The Train' by Mossel Bay locals, guests can enjoy the unique and romantic experience of staying on a real train only 30m from the sea.

Accommodation

We offer a choice of either double, single and budget units all with clean showers. A compartment comprises four beds and a coupè comprises two beds. Each coach comprises two coupès, five compartments, a communal shower and two toilets. For those celebrating that special day, we have a Caboose offering private bathroom facilities and a private balcony.

Two vintage Royal coaches built in 1919 provide four luxury suites with en-suite bathrooms, coffee facilities and private sea view decks. For a bit of old world charm and comfort, try these recently renovated additions to our fleet.

Our restaurant and bar serves breakfast and other delicious meals. The restaurant is open from 07h30.

Activities

We are a short walk from the Dias Museum, the harbour and the town centre. Other activities include shark cage diving, whale watching, sky diving, deep sea fishing, game drives or a boat trip to Seal Island. Our staff are available to assist with arrangements.

Something different, right on the beach. When you arrive at the Santos Express it felt like your holiday started. The check in went well. They followed Covid 19 protocol. Our compartments were nice, overlook the beach. The Santos restaurant was also good. Their food was fabulous and tasty, we enjoyed our lunch here. Breakfast was included in our stay, and the whole experience was worthwhile. Thanks for an enjoyable experience.
