About The Trout Pod
Set on a cliff in the Witzenberg overlooking the Olifants River, the amazing off-the-grid Trout Pod offers fly fishermen the dream destination to fish for brown trout in the Western Cape. The rustic cottage is designed to blend in with the surroundings, away from the stresses and strains of the city, and is not equipped with a TV or Wi-Fi, or mobile phone signal.
Self Catering Accommodation
The outside deck has a built in braai and a wood fired hot tub. Two bags of firewood are supplied per night and additional firewood is available at the store which also has Vodacom reception.
The Trout Pod offers accommodation in Prince Alfred Hamlet in two en-suite bedrooms furnished with double beds. The bathrooms are fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. For convenience, Enchantrix Biodegradable Body and Hair wash, linen and bath towels, as well as toilet paper, are provided. Guests please need to bring their own swimming towels. Please note, the toilets run on a septic tank system and hot water is provided by a gas geyser.
The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and oven, fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, kitchenware, cutlery and crockery and the basic essentials such as coffee, tea, sugar, salt are pepper are provided. Guests can relax in the cosy lounge area that opens onto the patio overlooking the lovely surroundings.
Outside there is a hot tub.
Pets
Pets are welcome but please note: Owners please need to clean up after pets and do not just flick it into the bush. Pets are not allowed on the furniture, please bring your own pet beds and bedding.
Attractions
Enjoying views of the Olifants River, the cottage offers guests the opportunity to detox and relax surrounded by nature. Guests can explore the marked trails, cool down in the dipping pool, and watch the birds. Fly fishing can also be enjoyed but please note only fly fishing is allowed, only barbless hooks are used and fishing is on a catch and release basis. The Trout Pod is approximately 50 km from Prince Alfred Hamlet for guests who want to explore.
