Thirsty Falls Nature Retreat is a highly recommended property for self catering in Rustenburg for anyone visiting the Bojanala Region.
Thirsty Falls Nature Retreat, nestles against the southern slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountains 3 km off the R24, between Magaliesburg and Rustenburg. It is an organic working farm, using the principles of permaculture, with diverse growing of trees and herbs. With the cliffs of the Magaliesberg as a backdrop, natural bush, beautiful garden setting and 360 degree panoramic views, tranquility reigns.
Bird life is abundant and there has been a siting of eagles, possibly starting to nest, in the cliffs. Small game spotting - buck, warthog and porcupine, comes at the most unexpected moments. Not to be missed are the beautiful sunsets and star studded night skies, with resounding calls from the baboon, cry of the jackal and the hoot of the owl.
As hosts, we offer personal hospitality for our guests and the sharing of this beautiful environment. Your comfort and relaxation are our priority! Fresh bakes and seasonally grown local produce are available for purchase, on request.
We offer comfortable, spacious guest houses, tastefully decorated in 'home from home' self-catering, fully equipped accommodation, with a high standard of cleanliness and care taken. Each house is built with face brick, large sliding doors and windows, privately situated one from the other, amidst the natural bush. Each is surrounded with spectacular views.
We do not have facilities for children as we are an adult orientated venue.
There is a swimming pool with lapa area, in a beautiful garden setting. A guest DStv lounge is at the farmhouse.
Nature walks can be enjoyed around the farm and fields and hiking on the slope surrounds.
Bird life is abundant!
Activities are part of the Magalies Meander area, which include fishing, biking, hot air ballooning, horse trails, canopy tours, outdoor adventures, candle dipping, Spa therapy specialists, country shopping and restaurants.

What is loadshedding? It refers to the temporary suspension of electricity provided by Eskom, South Africa's electricity provider, to reduce consumption and thereby the load on the national grid. To compensate, South African property owners are turning to solar power, inverters with backup batteries or in some cases generators to keep the power on, wherever feasible.

We found our stay at Thirsty Falls to be totally relaxing and enjoyable. Jenny and Allen were really great hosts and the conversations were really great. Jenny and Allen saw to all our needs without being in our way at all. With regards to the surroundings it was just great, the units were clean and well provisioned. Great care was taken in decorating the room and bathroom for us. The backdrop of Magaliesberg behind our unit was magical as well as the sunsets that we were presented with late in the afternoon. We were treated to various types of game while driving up to Thirsty Falls which were in enclosures on either side of the road and although not part of Thirsty Falls you were still able to enjoy it. All in all a wonderful, relaxing , quite place to stay with really great hosts.
