Since its establishment in 2003, this four-star lodge, as recognized by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, has been a sanctuary for those seeking tranquility amidst verdant forests, cascading waterfalls, and stunning mountain vistas.
Accommodation
Our lodge features six luxurious chalets, each thoughtfully designed to accommodate two adults. Guests can choose between two single beds or one queen-size bed, with an additional single bed available for younger visitors. The en-suite bathrooms are elegantly appointed with both a bath and shower. Each chalet boasts a private balcony with breathtaking views, ensuring a serene retreat.
The chalets are fully equipped for self-catering, featuring a gas stove and oven, microwave, and all necessary cutlery, crockery, and cleaning supplies. Additional amenities include a TV with Open View, complimentary Wi-Fi, a cozy fireplace, blow heater, electric blankets, hot water bottles, and a coffee plunger. Private braai facilities are also provided, along with towels, bedding, and a small safe for valuables.
For families, our unique family unit offers an ideal setup, accommodating 4 to 5 guests. This unit comprises two interleading chalets, each with a super king bed that can be converted into two single beds, providing flexibility to suit your needs. The family unit also includes en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and all the comforts and amenities offered in our individual chalets.
Lodge Facilities
Trout River Falls provides a range of exceptional lodge facilities to enhance your stay. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast daily in the breakfast room or tea garden. Our fully licensed bar, complete with a TV and fireplace, offers a cozy setting to unwind. DSTV and Wi-Fi are available, although connectivity may vary during load shedding.
For outdoor enthusiasts, private braai facilities and a dedicated outdoor braai area are provided. While parking is conveniently available nearby, our “camo” mini bakkie ensures seamless transportation of your luggage to and from the chalets upon arrival and departure.
Additional Information
Trout River Falls is pet-friendly, with owners responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Borehole water is safe for drinking, and cellphone reception is available, although signal strength may be intermittent. A damage deposit is required for pets.
Fishing at Trout River Falls is a catch-and-release experience, complimentary for lodge guests. Supervised fishing for children is available, with additional charges applied for any damaged fish and cleaning. Lessons and equipment rentals can be arranged upon request. Day visitors and anglers are welcome, though we recommend calling ahead to confirm availability if the lodge has been booked exclusively.

An amazing get away from the day-to-day lifestyle. The scenery is spectacular with a combination of the hiking trails and the mountain surroundings. The waterfall is breath taking. The chalets are well equipped with all the necessary requirements. Trout fishing is available at your doorstep. The staff are magnificent. Trout River Falls will defiantly be recommended by me.
