Umzimkulu Woodland Cottage is set near the river bank at Umzimkulu River Lodge. The Lodge is just two hours from Durban and six hours from Johannesburg in the foothills of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site.

Self Catering Accommodation

Umzimkulu Woodland Cottage is a free standing double story holiday home in Drakensberg, ideal for a maximum of six adults and two children.

Upstairs there is a bedroom furnished with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The second room is furnished with a double bed and the third room is furnished with twin beds. These rooms share a bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. There is a bunk bed on the landing.

Downstairs there is a comfortable lounge with a log fireplace, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. There is another guest loo downstairs.

Outside there is a covered veranda with beautiful views and BBQ facilities. The cottage offers excellent privacy and beautiful river views. It has its own access down onto rolling lawn and the river island beyond.

Pets

Pets are welcome with prior arrangement.

Attractions and Activities

Activities include trout fishing, small Bass dam, adventure playground, animal farm, walks, birding, Quad bike trails, horse riding and river rafting nearby.

Fishermen enjoy the unrivalled opportunities to catch rainbow trout along our 2.5km stretch of the Umzimkulu. Should the river conditions be unfavorable, there is a trophy dam on our neighbouring farm available to our guests - booking essential. The rivers are open from from September to end May every year. Dams are however open for year round fishing enjoyment.

Canoes, paddles and tubes are available to our guests for hire. Tubing is a favorite summer activity. Guests are dropped off about 5km upriver and tube back to the lodge.
