About Valley Lakes Lodge

Valley Lakes Lodge is an efficiently designed eight sleeper lakeside lodge offering self catering accommodation in Underberg, about 30km from the town, with generous volumes. The lake is fed by the pristine waters of the Ndawana River, the source of which is over 2000m above sea level in the majestic Southern Drakensberg.

Self Catering Accommodation

Valley Lakes Lodge is a self catering holiday home in Underberg sleeping eight guests. There are two bedrooms upstairs and two downstairs, all of which are furnished with twin beds or a King-size bed if preferred. The upstairs bedrooms each have an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. Downstairs there is a family bathroom shared by the two rooms that is fitted with a bath, shower, toilet and basin. There is also a separate guest toilet.

Downstairs there is an open plan living area with a Smart TV and a fireplace adjacent to the kitchen that is equipped with a gas stove top and electric oven, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, crockery, cutlery, glassware, cookware and utensils.

Upstairs is an open plan living room styled to study or read with two balconies, one overlooking the lake and the other, the mountain.

Outside there is a patio with outdoor furniture, a fire pit and a Weber braai for outdoor cooking and dining.

Complimentary welcome tea/coffee is provided on your arrival and free Wi-Fi is available on request.

Attractions and Activities

There is an abundance of wildlife; otters, rhebuck, duiker, eland and reedbuck, to name a few, therefore cameras are essential. For the nature lovers the wealth of birdlife, including the Fish Eagle, as well as the indigenous flora will keep you enchanted for many hours, remember to pack the binoculars!

For outdoor enthusiasts, hikers and mountain bikers, there are 300 Ha to explore including river frontage as well the mighty Taba Msilo to conquer.

For the fishermen, take up the challenge and try for our wily, naturally spawned rainbow and brown trout. There are 15kms of pristine river and ~ 70 hectares of lake. Only fly-fishing tackle is allowed, and in order not to disturb the tranquillity, no power boats please. Bring your own kick-craft or float tubes in order to access the lake. We also hire boats if you have none.

Bring your passports and take a 4 x 4 trip up the awesome Sani Pass, organized tours are available from Underberg.
