About Voortrekker Monument Venue

The majestic Voortrekker Monument, situated in a nature reserve in Pretoria, is a unique Monument that commemorates the Pioneer history of Southern Africa and the history of the Afrikaner. Its stunning setting has become a popular venue to tie the knot.

The Venue

Not only is Voortrekker Monument an ideal place for a great outdoor and learning experience, but it also offers conference facilities, like the Voortrekker Hall, a chapel and Fort Schanskop, one of the few remaining forts built during the Anglo Boer War in Pretoria, which is both ideal for small intimate weddings.

The thatch chapel with its unique wooden chairs can accommodate 100 people and can also be used for baptisms, small conferences, book launches and funerals and much more.

Park Acoustics is a monthly outdoor music festival held at Fort Schanskop in the Voortrekker Monument Reserve. On the last Sunday of every month music fans flock here to catch some of South Africa's most loved indie, folk, rock, and rap stars performing live. You can host you very own music fest, wedding and party.

The Voortrekker Hall has the most magnificent view over the capital city. Here bigger gatherings for conferences and concerts can easily be accommodated.

All the venues are wheelchair friendly and equipped with bathroom facilities.

The Monument

It was designed by architect Gerard Moerdijk and inaugurated in 1949. In the Hall of Heroes is the world's longest historical marble frieze. A tapestry with more than three million stitches is housed in the Cenotaph Hall.

The Voortrekker Monument today is the most visited heritage site of its kind in Gauteng and one of the top ten cultural historical visitor attractions in the country. It was the first site to be graded a National Heritage Site in Pretoria.
