Over the years the Western Cape has honed its ability to make visitors feel at home and a vast range of lodging - guest houses, self-catering apartments, hotels and country retreats - has emerged as a result. You will find that SA-Venues.com provides a wide variety of accommodation options, from comfortable, neat and impressive bed and breakfast establishments, to luxurious hotel suites and artistic and self-indulgent retreats. Find offerings from four to five star hotels through beachfront apartments to countryside wine estates or mountain top escapes.
The Western Cape province promises folded mountains, sea and wide, blue skies. This is the land of the flat topped mountain. The same mountain hugs the inner city of Cape Town like a bowl before it sprawls out and on to the peninsula, by way of the southern suburbs and Constantia winelands. It ends in the dramatic cliffs of Cape Point – where the two oceans – one that washes the shores of False Bay villages, and the other a playground of the Atlantic seaboard - meet.
This too is the land of the Swartland where renosterveld and fertile wheatfields earn it the title of the Cape's bread basket; the Cederberg where hiking in the wilderness is a favoured pastime; the gorgeous towns of the wine and fruit-growing Breede River Valley – Montagu, Ashton, McGregor and Tulbagh; the heady historical towns of the Cape Winelands – Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek.
The Overberg beyond the Hottentots-Holland mountains where wheatfields play host to the endangered blue crane; the Karoo, which on closer inspection is anything but arid; and Agulhas, Africa's most southern point, where little dorps with names like Baardskeerdersbos, Malgas and Elim surprise.
There are also the northern suburbs of Cape Town and the wonderful Cape West Coast that stretches via the seaside villages of Langebaan, Paternoster, Saldanha and on, right up towards the Northern Cape and villages like Vanrhynsdorp and Vredendal that during the wild flower season play host to hundreds of people.
