De Waterkant is, in truth, a modernised rendition of the Bo-Kaap and lies just next to this same suburb. From the Cape Town International Airport, take the N2 to the city centre. Take off ramp A1 (Strand St) and continue with Strand St through the city centre. Cross Buitengracht and the traffic light at Hudson St. Turn right into Loader St – it makes an elbow bend but continue straight along the tall cypress lined street and turn left into De Smid St (the large garage door on your right is the entrance).
