Aside from a little supermarket, a smattering of houses, a Build and Save and an Engen garage, there is not very much to the little town of Bulwer, through which the R617, one of the main routes into the southern Drakensberg, passes. But then the main reason for being here is not to visit the town. A village like Bulwer serves little other purpose than to refuel, both your car and possibly ... cont.
The directions from King Shaka International Airport:
1. Get on N2 from Dube Blvd:
- Head northeast on Boulevard Rd/King Shaka Dr (1.0 km).
- Turn left onto Dube Blvd (2.6 km, Toll road).
- Use the right 2 lanes to take the ramp onto N2 (2.4 km, Toll road).
2. Continue on N2 to North Beach, Durban:
- Merge onto N2 (9.6 km, Toll road).
- Take exit 182 for M41 E toward Umhlanga (700 m).
- Merge onto M41 (3.3 km).
- Merge onto M4 (12.7 km).
3. Get on N3 in Greyville, Berea:
- Turn right onto Bram Fischer Rd/M4 (300 m).
- Continue straight on Bram Fischer Rd/M4 (1.2 km).
- Continue straight onto David Webster St/M4/R102 (270 m).
- Use the left lane to merge onto N3 via the ramp to Pietermaritzburg (650 m).
4. Continue on N3 to Bulwer:
- Use the left lane to merge onto N3 (600 m).
- Take exit M13 for Berea Road (250 m).
5. Take Hunt Rd to Clark Rd:
- Merge onto King Dinizulu Rd/King Dinuzulu Rd (South) (79 m).
- Turn left onto Hunt Rd (220 m).
- Continue straight to stay on Hunt Rd (230 m).
- Turn left onto Clark Rd; your destination will be on the left (130 m).
