The little village of Mkuze lies in the shadow of the Ubombo Mountains just 18 km west from the entrance gate of the Mkhuze Game Reserve on the N2 north of Lake St Lucia. In this remote north eastern wilderness of Southern Africa, human presence is felt less and vast plantations of scrubland, freshwater pans and lakes form sanctuaries for rare plants, hippos, turtles and crocodiles. From Durban
Coming from Durban on the N2,(Do not take the first turn off that says Mkuze/Leopard Mountain Game Lodge – keep driving another 20km) take the P234 (Bangonomo) road opposite the Mkuze town turn-off. There will be a sign on the gravel road that says “Nongoma Private Hospital” Drive for 1.1km on the gravel road and turn left onto the D240. Go straight until you get to the security gate for the Zululand Rhino Reserve. From there drive another 11.7km on the dirt road until you see our sign board on the left. Please use the “Lodge” road and not the “Private” road.
From Pongola
Driving from Pongola on the N2, turn right onto the P234 (Bangonomo) road opposite Mkuze town turn-off and follow the same instructions as above.
