Very nice place, offered rooms were more than we have expected - space, design, etc.

Very good value for money

The venue is located in a quiet street and is quite beautiful with large trees etc. as you drive in. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food at the restaurant was also very good and worked very hard as they were understaffed in the kitchen & restaurant (they are definitely assets you should value). We were there over Christmas and phoned upfront to ask if they would have a Christmas lunch and were told yes and we booked for it. On arrival on the 24th Dec. we asked again at reception and were suprised when we were informed that there would be no special Christmas lunch but that we could order from the A La Carte menu and said that would be fine. After our breakfast, we did a bit of sightseeing on Christmas morning and came back at 13:30 to find the restaurant closed and were informed that it would be closed until the next morning - so no lunch or dinner. This was really disappointing and a bit of a shock, as no one informed us that the restaurant will close at a certain time - and this after we've enquired. Being Christmas to find an open restaurant in Howick, is almost impossible and we were luckily helped at the only open restaurant that had a cancellation! Imagine - we went away to have a nice Christmas and almost had to go hungry! The Executive Suites are also not recommended if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful time, as the walls are very thin so you can hear all your neighbours conversations and their TV - so it's noisy. My overall impression is that it's not value for money at the rate we paid per night and that the venue needs to do quite a bit of renovation as well - some of the cottages thatch roofs were collapsed and covered with sails ...

We had the best time here!! We stayed in the loft Suite and loved every moment. Only negative? Wish we could have stayed longer :)

Daughter and I had one of the best nights sleep in your excellent double bed. Breakfast could have been better, coffee machine took a while to work out and although the mushrooms on toast were good, would have been nice if there had been more of a vegetarian choice.
