This place is absolutely spectacular and fabulous in every way. Don't even think twice about booking. Seriously. We have stayed in many self-catering places throughout SA and can quite honestly say that Buff & Hollow is by far the best, as we could not find anything to fault. - The beds and bedding - what a treat! - The decor was beautiful, calming and kept the "eco" theme throughout. Almost no plastic in sight. - The cleanliness - I did not even feel the need to rinse a (stunning, may I add) plate before using it. - The attention to detail went way above what we have ever experienced before: Beautiful fresh bread (with butter), fresh milk, 5L water, rusks & the real deal coffee to welcome us. Cozy fireplace with ample wood to keep us warm. AND the offer of eggs fresh from the chickens in the coop right next door. Let me not forget to mention that the kitchen was stocked with dish cloths, soaps, olive oil and even condiments. Nothing was forgotten. Quality cutlery and crockery, which added to the feel of luxury. Red and white wines, craft beers, more coffee and preserves were available to purchase. Money to be put into the "honesty jar". Yes, seriously. We took up the offer of a ready-to-cook braai pack, which was waiting for us, beautifully presented in the fridge. Four lovely chops, a whole pack (6 big pieces) of delicious boerewors, and tasty, juicy chicken kebabs, with a potato salad which could have fed 6 (not just 2). The food was so delicious, we just ate and ate and ate. Please don't hesitate to make use of this offer. Access was easy and effortless. We did not even meet our hosts! It honestly felt like we were arriving at our own little place in paradise. How wonderful to find hosts with old fashioned values of trust. It's rare in the world today. The farm itself is pristine and stunning. One can see at a glance that it's run by people who care for their farm, their animals, and guests in equal measure. I especially loved reading through the survival manual, which, instead of giving a long lists of rules and penalties, it was full of fun, easy to read information and the rules felt more like requests which were not at all offensive. I would love to see all other self-catering establishments visit Buff & Fellow and see how it SHOULD be done.
