The quiet, leafy suburb of Cowies Hill, just outside of Durban, is, despite being an upmarket and rather elite suburb, notorious as the last of the five murderous hills in the down-run of the Comrades Marathon. Take the N2 South towards Durban Exit the N2 to the N3 (Pietermaritzburg) at exit 165.
Exit the N3 at exit 13 (Pavilion shopping mall on your left)
Turn right at robot onto St James.
3rd Robot turn left into Buckingham Tr.
2nd Robot turn right into Blair Athol Rd.
1st robot right onto M13. (Like a U- turn)
Take 1st off ramp (Exit 13) onto Cowies Hill / Dawncliffe.
At the stop street travel straight,to Old Main Rd, (parallel to the highway).
Pass the petrol station on your left.
Turn right into Woodside Road
Woodside Rd forks, keep to the left (Balmoral Rd)
Braemar Rd is 1st right. No 3

From Pietermaritzburg
Follow N3 to Durban - take the M13 alternate route. (Durban)
Pass Shongweni, Hillcrest and Pinetown.
The M13 splits just after Pinetown- keep to the right travel towards Westville.
Take 1st off ramp after split (Exit 13) Cowies Hill / Dawncliffe.
Turn left into Old Main Rd.
Turn right into Woodside Road
Woodside Rd forks, keep to the left (Balmoral Rd).
