Glengariff, also written as Glen Gariff and sometimes even Glen Garriff, lies just 30 kilometres north of East London – a relatively unknown, and thus unspoilt, little coastal resort that is part of the Wild Coast and on both the Jikeleza Route and Strandloper Trail. Glengariff is thus one of those beaches that, given the time of year of course as school holidays can become 'silly' anywhere ... cont.
From the N2 heading towards Mthata (Umthata) take the R102 / Brakfontein / Wild Coast Jikeleza off ramp and then turn right, crossing over the N2 you will travel back towards East London for a couple of kilometres and then turn left onto the Schafli Road. You will travel approximately 11 km passing a shopping complex on the right (good place to stop for supplies). The Glengariff turnoff is clearly marked. Turn right and travel towards the sea. Do not take the road to the Glengariff Lodge. As you approach the resort you will travel over two speed humps and then the road forks, take the left hand fork into the resort and carry on straight ahead towards a double storey block of flats situated on your right. Just past this building you will see number 32, a white house with grey roof and cottage pane windows. Please call 082 717 2905 approximately 30 minutes prior to your arrival so someone can be at the property to meet you.
If you are travelling from Durban on the N2 you will need to take the R102/Brakfontein off ramp and then turn left onto the R102 and then left again onto the Schafli Road and then proceed as above.
An alternative route which is a bit shorter would be to turn left off the N2 at the East Coast Resort/Wild Coast Jikeleza/Crawfords Cabins/Inkwenkwezi turn off, and then turn left onto the Glengariff road.
