The photos online did not do El Yolo justice. We were expecting a lot less from a 150 year old Farmhouse, but we were pleasantly surprised with the facilities. I completely fell in love with the beautiful kitchen equipped with everything one could possibly need to bake and make gorgeous food. The farm is picturesque and one can loose oneself in the quiet calm. Just a tip for future guests - it really is in the middle of nowhere and the small Karoo towns en route are not great for grocery shopping. Make sure you don't forget anything.

We visited El Yolo on the 15th September and stayed in the Wooden Bungalow. The whole experience was wonderful...the area is BEAUTIFUL, the views is fantastic and the host Helene is a wonderful cook...we had "Skaapribbetjies" and "Oxtail" for dinner. We really enjoyed our kuier with Helene and friends on Friday night! What a piecefull and relaxing space! And to cap it all...it was full moon and the whole veldt was bathed in this silver light...very beautiful! Thanx guys for a wonderfull stay, may God bless and protect you! Hallo Willem Ons wil net baie dankie sê vir ‘n heerlike naweek by El yolo. Ons het dit baie geniet en waardeer dit dat jy die plaashuis vir ons beskikbaar gestel het. Helene en Hennie het ons baie tuis laat voel – ons gaan beslis weer terug, want Riaan wil kyk of hy nie die bye kan verwyder in die kranse nie (dit gaan nie so maklike taak wees nie…..). Our stay was with out question one of the greatest we have had, my family can not stop talking about how wonderful “El Yolo One” is. Every thing that they had on offer catered for all of my family members different interest and more. It is such a pity that our stay was way too short. It was such a pleasure dealing with the staff, they made you feel extra special from the moment you arrived till the very last minute. What I liked the most is the fact that the staff had not been in your face, they gave us our personal space to spend time as a family. The accommodation was outstanding and the little extra touches that had been added was greatly appreciated. My 7 year old son loves nature and El Yolo One offered every thing that he wished for and so so much more. For him and us staying in a rustic wooden cabin away from every one was a dream holiday. At El Yolo One there is a number of wild life to be easily seen. Where else can a child pretend to be a game ranger and feel free to follow fresh game tracks in person. We are all looking forward to going back in the not too distant future. My mother is already planning on the date for the next trip and this time she wants to bring the rest of the family too.

Dear Willem, Madeleine & staff of El Yolo, Despite the fact that we were only able to spend one evening with you, you have all left a lasting impression on each one of us and we thank you wholeheartedly for that. You really went out of your way to make us welcome and to ensure that we were well-fed. The food was outstanding and the playing of the harmonica by Johan after dinner was amazing. The girls are still commenting about how wonderful it was to lie in front of the fireplace whilst listening to music. All in all, a wonderful establishment and we will definitely return for a longer visit next time round. Thank you again and may you all go from strength to strength in the future. What a place! Lovely, beautiful location and Jaco was a great host - with good food and wine on offer plus a warm fire to stem the cold from the storm outside. In the morning we were given a tour of the estate in the Landy to see the Baboons at the waterfall and the peacocks near Willem's house. It really is a very special place. Well worth a visit. We wish we had stayed longer and will recommend you to our friends and family.

"Enjoy life you only live once" - what more can I say of our truly unforgetable experience of Elyol One's tranquility with it's relaxed atmosphere and courteous people - a must to experience for all nature enthusiasts. During the day we were astonished by the natural and hidden beauties of the farm and by night we enjoyed the company of the fire and our proper South African "potjie" whilst gazing at the stars!
