It was fine. Nice chalets. Clean. Nothing fancy, just basic. OK for the weekend.

This was a very good relaxing place to be it is very quiet at night and the birds wake you up in the morning, the dirt road of 3km make you feel you in the bush, I used it as a base to visit all the tourist destinations in the area and find it affordable but best of all need and clean with the necessary luxuries. The hosts Hippo and Johan make the place so welcoming that you do not want to leave. I will definitely go back and the mosquitoes did not worry us at all Thanks for a relaxing week Kobus

Hi there My name is Natalie. We enjoyed a four day stay at Hippo Waterfront Lodge in December 2009. In all honesty I can recommend Hippo Waterfront Lodge for a tranquil, peacefull, very neat and well equipped accommodation for a total "let your hair down rest". Thank you to Johan & Anna for the homely and pleasant environment. You are really great hosts. We will definately visit you again. Regards Andrè, Natalie, Dante and Nino

My name is Sharon Grandi , and the first impression is WOW!!!!! Log Cabins overlooking the crocodile river and Hippo;'s in the river. They also have a swimming pool and quadrides if you like. Breakfast is offered seperately and also dinner. I am a total perfectionist and my concern was the 3km dirt road we had to travel to get there. My husband does not dirvie on dirt roads, but he handled the dirt road fine and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed there in February 08 for 2 days and did not want to leave - relaxing and very quiet. During the Mrch 08 long weekend we went again for 4 days and once again did not want to leave. My husband is not an easy person to please and he was totally satisfied, the owner Johan even presented us with undercover parking space because we do not like our vehicle standing in the sun. We stayed in K3 and I can honestly recommend this place to stay to anyone who want to relax and braai and chill out and maybe have the pleasure of seing a Hippo or two. Hipoo Waterfront Lodge is also very well marked - you will absolutely not get lost - 10km before Nelspruit on the N4 onto the Sterspruit road and from there you have signs directing you straight to the Lodge. When we visit Nelspruit - this will be our place to stay, we wiil not even consider other places. The only downside is the dirt road, but it is bearable. A lovely Lodge and lovely hosts. You will not want to leave. This is the place to rest. If you do not visit this lovely Lodge you surely will miss out. Go there if you visit Nelspruit and enjoy.
