The little village of De Kelders, which lies just 5 km north of Gansbaai and about 25 minutes' drive from Hermanus, has managed to remain largely immune to the large scale tourism that envelopes this part of the country, and is still essentially a fishing village and famous for its seafood. From Cape Town International Airport
Exit the airport and travel East (away from Cape Town) on the N2 towards Somerset West. Continue through Somerset West and over the mountains through sir Lowry's pass. Drive through the Elgin Valley, filled with orchards, forests and roses before descending through Houw Hoek Pass leading into the Overberg. At the bottom of the pass take the R43 turn-off to Hermanus (left off the N2). Continue through Hermanus on the R43 following the signs to Stanford. Approximately 17km after Stanford you will see the turn off to De Kelders on your right hand side. Turn right towards the sea. Approximate journey time from the airport is one and a half hours. Beware of static and mobile speed cameras!
From the Garden Route
Travel along the N2 towards Cape Town through the undulating farm fields to Riviersonderend. At Riviersonderend turn left onto the R356 towards Stanford. At the junction of the R356 and the R43 turn left on to the R43 towards Gansbaai. After approximately 17km you will see the turn off to De Kelders on your right hand side. Turn right towards the sea.
To Khumbula
At the first sign for De Kelders turn right off the R43 towards the sea. Take the first turn left into Main and then the second right into Ingang Street. Khumbula is the 3rd house along on the right hand side.
