Many thanks for a very enjoyable stay at The Cloete House at Matjiesvlei Guestfarm. The facilities were very good and everything was available to cook up a storm! We mostly enjoyed the outside fire-pit! Our batteries are recharged with the quietness and stunning birdsong every day! If I can just make one small suggestion regarding the return of the house keys- maybe a locked 'post box' can be put outside of the old Post office/Museum to drop off the house keys. Then the owner can pick it up from there as opposed to dropping it off again at their office. But overall extremely enjoyable stay, thank you!

Highly recommended, the tranquility and beauty is absolute out of this world. I will surely visit them again, and this time I will stay much longer! I enjoyed every single moment.

It was a great journey into the past! Middle in pure natur an old farmhouse built about 1900 with astonishing details. We admire the people who build it and maintained it thereafter.

stayed in the delightful poppiehuis "Cloete" dating back to 1876, gazed @ majestic mountains & starry skies. A haven of tranquility!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at "Huis oppie Rant" in the +100 year old homestead. Selma and Bennie Nel are very accommodating and willing to help with any request. As Bennie is 5th generation here in the valley, he has many enthralling tales to tell about how life was here many years ago. The views and the silence makes one feel rested and at peace with the World. It is great to be subjected to paraffin lamps and candles for light and to heat water in a Donkey Boiler. We WILL be back to camp.... when it is warmer.
