Some 60 km from Graaff-Reinet, Nieu-Bethesda is in essence completely isolated, with only two roads in and out of the village. Established in 1875 and named by the preacher Andrew Murray, Nieu-Bethesda was eclipsed by larger towns during the 1930s and ‘40s and became quite impoverished. 30km north from Graaff-Reinet, turn left off the N9 at the signpost to Nieu-Bethesda. After 24km of good gravel, Outsiders is the 3rd building on the left as you come into the village.
60km south from Middleburg, turn right off the N9 onto 30km of good gravel. In Nieu-Bethesda, turn right at the T-junction, then left at the 4-way stop. Outsiders is the 3rd building on the right.
