Harvest Moon Sanctuary Cottages provides charming self-catering accommodation on the banks of the Breede River in Malagas. This tranquil settlement, set against the backdrop of the Potberg Mountain range, lies just 30 km southeast of Swellendam and is a scenic 280 km, or approximately a two-and-a-half-hour drive, from Cape Town.; ; The accommodation consists of two private cottages, Owl Cottage and Heron Cottage, which, while situated next to one another, offer complete privacy. Both cottages are thoughtfully designed with a minimalist, ‘less is more’ aesthetic and feature bright, open spaces that capture stunning 360-degree views of the river from almost every room.; ; Each cottage comfortably accommodates up to four guests, comprising two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen and living area with a cosy fireplace. Outside, guests can enjoy an outdoor dining area that seats six, complete with a braai facility and umbrella. While there is limited Wi-Fi at the cottages, the peaceful setting more than makes up for it.; ; The two cottages share access to a jetty, offering convenient launching and mooring facilities. With plenty of space for outdoor activities, guests can spend their days sunbathing, swimming, boating, skiing, tubing, kayaking, fishing, walking, bird watching, mountain biking, or trail biking. For a quieter experience, board games are available, and horse rides can be arranged for those looking to explore the area on horseback.
