Superb stay. Exceptionally warm, helpful and informative hospitality, we couldn't have asked for better attention. We advise you have dinner, the food is exquisite. This destination is remarkable also for the beautiful accommodation, amazing night skies and such interesting environment and things to see nearby. This was our second visit from UK and cant wait to return, cannot recommend highly enough.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner. She gave us many valuable tips for things to do on the farm and in the wider area The accommodation has a very attractive old style ambience with many antique furnishings. You feel right at home here. From the terrace you can watch birds and behind the house there are big rocks where Dassies live. A stone's throw away an old pear tree blossomed next to a small brook with frogs calling at night. You can also hike on the farm to beautiful viewpoints (e.g. magnificent gorges). A perfect accommodation for nature lovers. Even out of the main season we found a lot of flowers on the farm. The only criticism: If you start a fire in the fireplace, the smoke pulls badly through the chimney. If you do not like the smell of smoke, you should not start a fire. A very nice accommodation far away of any traffic noise and civilization stress.

Our expectations of Papkuilsfontein were far exceeded - and this took a lot since we really liked what we saw on the website. We had a major car problem which Mariette and Alrie went to great pains to solve while we relaxed and enjoyed what the farm has to offer. The rock pools were very welcome on the scorching hot day and the short hike from there to the awesome canyon was well worth it. The evening meal was delicious and plentiful and we felt thoroughly spoiled by the presentation, which required absolutely no effort on our part - just an amble from our couch to the table! We would have loved to stay longer but instead, we will need to reserve that pleasure for a flower season in the not too distant future.

I have stayed here many times and it rates as the best family owned establishments I have ever stayed at. The quality of service, food and accommodation is of a very high standard. I do not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone wanting a quiet getaway or spending one or two nights passing through.
