Sabie is a tranquil and attractive malaria-free town situated in Mpumalanga in South Africa. Sabie lies in the centre of one of the largest man-made forests in the world. From JOHANNESBURG (OR Tambo International Airport)
Take the R21 towards Boksburg. Join the N12 Witbank Highway. This road merges with and becomes the N4.
Recommended scenic route in good weather:
Turn left off the N4 at Belfast onto the R540 to Dullstroom, ideal stop for coffee or lunch. Continue on the R540 to Mashishing (formerly Lydenburg) then turn right onto the R37 to Sabie via the spectacular Long Tom Pass, 2149m at its highest point.
On entering Sabie turn right at the first Stop street into Louis Trichard Street then right again at the next Stop street. You are now on the R536 Hazyview Road. Continue down this road for 4km and you will see our sign to turn right. Follow the gravel road up the hill for 1km to Porcupine Ridge.
Recommended route in bad weather:
We advise you to continue on the N4, then turn left onto the R539 Sudwala / Sabie road. Turn left at the T junction at Rosehaugh and right at the Mashishing (formerly Lydenburg) / Sabie T junction, then continue as above into Sabie.
NB The N4 is a toll road - ensure you have cash available.
