To reach the little, largely undiscovered, village of Rawsonville does mean taking something of a detour off the N1 near Worcester, about 120 kilometres from Cape Town. Up until now the quiet town that lies in the beautiful winding Slanghoek Valley has been almost indistinguishable from Worcester, belonging as it does to the greater Worcester district. But its rugged beauty is fast becoming a ... cont.
From the West:
From Cape Town take the N1. Drive through the toll gate and through Huguenot Tunnel. One can also use the alternative, more scenic road over the Du Toitskloof Pass. Approximately 10km from the exit of the tunnel your will find the turn off for Rawsonville to the right. After turning right follow this road for 7.4 km until you arrive at the next Rawsonville turn off to the right. At the four way stop at the church turn right into the main road. At the second four way stop turn right into Porter Street. Rawsonville House is the last one on the left.
From the North East:
Travelling along the N1 turn left onto the R101 just after passing Worcester. After 9.4 kms turn left at the signpost for Rawsonville. At the third four way stop turn right into Porter Street. Rawsonville House is the last one on the left.
From the South East:
Travelling from Villiersdorp along the R43 turn left at the T junction before Worcester. Cross over the Breede River (long white bridge) and turn right at the junction immediately after. Follow the road among the vineyards until reaching the village of Rawsonville. At the second four way stop turn left into Porter Street. Rawsonville House is the last one on the left.
