In the 'hood, Magaliesburg as a destination

The sleepy little village of Magaliesburg lies in the Witwatersberg - the actual Magaliesberg Mountains are a further 8 kilometres or so north of here - its nearest neighbours the unassuming towns of Doornhoek and Hekpoort, an easy hour’s drive from Johannesburg. Directions to Saamrus Guest Farm

From Pretoria North:
1. Take the Pelindaba toll road out of the city to Hartbeespoort Dam.
2. Get off the toll road at Pelindaba Toll Plaza and turn left towards the R104 / R512 passing the dam on the left hand side.
3. Continue all the way to the T-junction with the R560 Krugersdorp Road.
4. At the T-junction turn left onto the R560 towards Krugersdorp.
5. Continue on the R560 past Skeerpoort and Hekpoort for approx 40kms.
6. Just before the end of the R560, close to the R24 T-junction you will see the Saamrus sign on your right.
7. Turn right onto the 1.5km farm road. Please follow the directions below carefully!
The first section is paved and fine for all vehicles, but the second half of the road can be slippery and difficult for low cars in wet weather. Once you have passed through the tall Blue gum trees, there is a sharp turn to the right along the game fence. Just after the sharp turn, look out for the turn to the left to cross the river. There is a sign RH3 & RH4. After the bridge there is a straight stretch along the fence on Wriggly Tin Farm. Follow the road until it turns sharply right and left, around the gray cottage, and then left to Saamrus. Just go slow and keep the wheels on the high areas, and you should be fine.

From Pretoria East / South:
1.Take the N14 / R28 to Krugersdorp.
2.At the traffic lights, N14 / Hendrik Potgieter intersection (there is a SASOL garage) turn right towards Tarlton / Ventersdorp.
3.Continue towards the next T-junction for approx. 10kms.
4.At the T-junction, turn right on the R563 towards Hekpoort.
5.Continue for 23kms to the next T-junction in Hekpoort.
6.Turn left onto the R560.
7.Continue for approx. 15kms. Just before the end of the R560, close to the R24 T-junction, you will see the Saamrus sign on your right.

From Sandton:
Take the N14/R28 to Krugersdorp and continue as above from 2.
From Johannesburg Central and West:
1.Take the R47 / Hendrik Potgieter towards Tarlton.
2.At the N14 Krugersdorp intersection, cross straight over and continue to the T-junction at the R563.
3.Continue as above from Pretoria East point 3.
From anywhere else: You will find Saamrus Guest Farm on Google Maps. This will take you to the turn-off to the Saamrus farm road.Turn right onto the 1.5km farm road. Please follow the directions below carefully!
