Tala Collection Game Reserve

Mahogany House is situated adjacent to Paperbark Lodge. The original old farmhouse has been carefully restored to maintain the essence of a bygone era. There are 5 rooms furnished with twin beds and en-suites fitted with a bath, shower, toilet and basin and one room furnished with a double bed and a bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and basin. Six bedrooms with bathrooms en-suite lead on to a central lounge area and out onto a typical farmhouse veranda which looks onto the surrounding garden. The Rock Pool and the Mahogany Spa are just a step away and the Paperbark Restaurant is conveniently located around the corner.

Paperbark Lodge centres on the 'Old Farm Barn' with the original door still in place. There are five double rooms and 7 twin rooms all with an en-suite bathroom with a bath, toilet and basin. Beautifully restored, with a large fireplace, polished floors and fold back windows that allow for natural light and ventilation, this is the venue for all the lodge's meals. The room's décor is simple, yet dramatic, including wildlife paintings, shale walls and the clever use of wood. The lodge surrounds an open grass area with spectacular views to the west of the open plains of the reserve. The rock pool is within easy walking distance for a refreshing dip on a hot summer's day. The Mahogany Spa, next to the rock pool, is also conveniently located. The sumptuous premier suite features a spacious bathroom with ball-and-claw tub and four poster bed.

Umndeni Room is furnished with a Queen-size bed and a sleeper couch. There is a lunge area with a TV. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet an basin. Outside there is a private veranda.

Leadwood Manor Rooms are double rooms. Two rooms have a bath and a shower, toilet and basin and there is one room with a shower, toilet and basin. These rooms offer a special space created to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. This is not self-catering accommodation and there are no fridges available in the rooms.

Leadwood Lodge is truly something special. There are six cottages in total, situated adjacent to the grand. Leadwood Manor House. The cottages are identical inside and are ideally used as honeymoon suites and make for special romantic getaways. Each cottage has a double bed and a bathroom with a bath, shower, toilet basin as well as its own private deck. The one cottage is situated near a dam. The rest of the cottages are surrounded by green bush. The cottages were built by a team of artisans with locally sourced shale. Leadwood Lodge combines exceptional architecture, towering thatch and resplendent finishes against a backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty. The décor is an eclectic merging of antique and organic Africa with one of a kind artistic elements. The final results of this lodge are a masterpiece of earth, water, glass and hardwoods. Please note that this is not self-catering accommodation, however, mini fridges are available in the rooms.

Presidential Suite ha a King-size bed and a bathroom with a bath and shower, toilet and basin. There is a dressing room, lounge and private deck area. The Presidential Suite is a special space created to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. This is not self-catering accommodation and there are no fridges available in the rooms. The Presidential Suite does have a TV with selected DSTV channels.

This self-catering, stand-alone house with a splendid view of the riverine bush and surrounded by open plains is easily visible as you drive onto the reserve. Comfortably accommodating two people in double or twin beds and a bathroom with a shower over the bath, toilet and basin. Each cottage has a private concealed Boma area that is ideal for a relaxing braai under the stars or just to sit around the fire. Fisherman's Cottage is a serene retreat where you can unwind while looking out over the Fisherman's Dam, listen to the calls of African Fish Eagles and watch the wildlife grazing, from the comfort of your veranda. The Cottages are self-catering; however, if you would prefer to dine at the Tala Restaurant for any meals, please can you book in advance. All meals and drinks are to be settled at the reception at the end for your stay.

Figtree House is a fully serviced house for groups of up to ten. There are four twin rooms and one double room. All five rooms have an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower, toilet and basin. The homestead has an old-world farm house atmosphere and each room has direct access to the surrounding garden. A veranda off the main lounge overlooks the boma braai area with the rolling hills of Tala in the background. The rooms open up to a communal open plan lounge with a bar. The large dining room tables are ideal for breakfast or dinner in the privacy of your own house.
