The Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve is a wonderfully scenic area offering excellent hiking opportunities. The area boasts cliffs and forests and spectacular hiking trails and picnic sites. Wildlife in the Oribi Gorge consists of many antelope, although the oribi (after which the gorge is named) is rarely seen. From Durban
•Travel on the N2 south towards Port Shepstone (aprox 60 min drive)
•Take the off ramp at the Oribi Toll Plaza (keep left)
•Turn right at the top of the off ramp and travel on the N2 towards Harding/Kokstad for 10km
•Turn right at the sign that reads Oribi Flats East
•Then drive for 22km past the Dwala Cement/Lime factory and St Martin's orphanage
•Proceed down the hill and turn left onto the district road D251 (it is a gravel road)
•Continue on this road for 2km and turn left into The Gorge
OR (scenic route)
•Travel on the N2 south towards Port Shepstone (aprox 60 min drive)
•Take the off ramp at the Oribi Toll Plaza (keep left)
•Turn right at the top of the off ramp and travel on the N2 towards Harding/Kokstad for 10km
•Turn right at the sign that reads Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve
•Then drive through the scenic gorge over the Mzimkulwana River for 9km
•At the T-junction turn left and continue pass St Martin's Orphanage
•Proceed down the hill and turn left onto the district road D251 (it is a gravel road)
•Continue on this road for 2km and turn left into The Gorge
From Kokstad
•Approximately 25km from Harding turn left at the sign Oribi Flats West (it is a gravel road)
•Travel for 20km and turn right onto the district road D251 (it is a gravel road)
•Continue on this road for 2km and turn left into The Gorge.
OR (scenic route)
•Travel for a further 20km from the Oribi Flats West turn-off
•Turn left at the sign that reads Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve
•Then drive through the scenic gorge over the Mzimkulwana River for 9km
•At the T-junction turn left and continue pass St Martin's Orphanage
•Proceed down the hill and turn left onto the district road D251 (it is a gravel road)
•Continue on this road for 2km and turn left into The Gorge
