Sodwana Bay, meaning ‘little one on its own’ in Zulu, lies within the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park, a World Heritage Site, and forms part of a continuous protected area stretching 150 km from the Mozambique border south to Cape Vidal and 3 nautical miles out to sea. Sodwana Bay is best known for its deep sea diving and beautiful coral reefs, regarded as the southern most coral reefs in the ... cont.
The best access to Sodwana Bay is the Hluhluwe off ramp from the N2. Go through Hluhluwe, and at the 4th huge circle turn left to Mbazwana/Sodwana Bay. After 1.5 km you will see a signpost (87km) to Sodwana, turn right over the railway line. When you get to Mbazwana go straight over two traffic circles then take the next turn to the right in front of the garage and Spar supermarket. (It would be a good idea to stock up with groceries as most of the stores close at 5 p.m.). At the next stop street about 50 meters down the road turn right again. Go straight over the next traffic circle and after 3km look out for the huge "Sea Escapes" and "Toad Tree Cabins" signs on the left, just before the plantation. At the sign turn left onto a dirt road for about 1.5km (stick to the right hand dirt track marked ‘private road’ if you are in a normal vehicle) and you will reach the cabins which are signposted on your left.
