From Cape Town City and Airport - Approximately 1 ½ hours drive
Take the N2 motorway to Somerset West, by-pass Somerset West and drive on over Sir Lowry’s pass. Stay on the N2, passing the turn-off to Grabouw, until you come to the Houw Hoek pass. Go over this pass and immediately at the bottom of the pass take the signed off-ramp to Hermanus. The remainder of the journey is approximately 28kms. Pass the turn-offs to Kleinmond, Fisherhaven, Hawston, Onrus and Sandbaai. You will now start to enter the outskirts of Hermanus. Drive on past the Gateway Spar shopping centre for a further 2kms into town. You will come to a roundabout and take the second exit and carry on into town. One block down is the Shell petrol station, turn right, and go one block down to the T-junction. Turn right again and the sea is now on your left. Stay on this road (Marine Drive which becomes Westcliff Ave) for a further 2kms until you reach the entrance to the new harbour. At this entrance, turn right on Stil street and Whale Rock Lodge is approximately 100 metres up on the right hand side. There are two large palm trees outside the front gates.
From the Garden Route
Take the N2 motorway towards Cape Town bypassing the towns of Mossel Bay, Riversdale, Swellendam and Riviersonderend. 10kms after Riviersonderend is the Stanford / Hermanus turn-off. Turn left and follow this road to Stanford. Turn right at Stanford for Hermanus which is approximately 25kms further on. As you enter Hermanus, you will pass through approximately 6kms of residential area. At the second roundabout take the first exit and you will see the Marine Hotel on your left. Continue up Main road, bearing right at the next traffic light until you reach the Shell petrol station. Turn left and go one block down to the T-junction.
