Hard to believe that Umhlanga, the buzzing residential, commercial and resort suburb just outside of Durban, was once a seaside resort town called Umhlanga Rocks. During the early seventies it merged with La Lucia to become what it is today - Umhlanga - pronounced Umshlanga and meaning “place of reeds” in Zulu. From Durban
Coming in toward Durban on the N3, take the N2 North turn-off
Keep on the N2 until you take the Mt Edgecombe/Umhlanga turn-off
Turn Right over the freeway - past the Gateway Mall (M41)
Take the 2nd Umhlanga off-ramp and turn Right over the freeway into Umhlanga Rocks Drive (M12)
After about 4km, turn Right at the BP Garage into Sagewood
Left Into Baobab
Left into Ebony
Right into Gwarri Rd. - No.7 is on the right.
