Lying on the route between Wellington and Gouda, Hermon might be but a blip on the map but it is actually a little village that has been here since forever - families have lived here for generations. From the N1:
From Cape Town, drive out on the N1 and take exit 47, sign-posted as the R44 to Stellenbosch, Klapmuts and Wellington. On leaving the N1, turn left and follow the R44 for 20km until you reach a four way stop. Proceed across the four way stop and turn left 2km later at the road marked Distillery Street / Wellington / Porterville / Ceres (still the R44). Travel for another 26km until you reach the turn-off on the left to Hermon / Riebeek Kasteel / Malmesbury, the R46. Turn left and stay on the R46 for another 2km. Do not turn into Hermon. You'll cross a railway bridge and the bridge over the Berg River. Du Vlei turn off is on your right hand side, 100m after the Berg River. Turn right at the “Porseleinberg / Vleisbank-crossing. 200m of good gravel road and you'll be at DU VLEI!
From Worcester:
take the Wolseley / Ceres-turn-off (the R43) on your right and travel until you reach a T-junction. Turn right onto the Wolseley / Ceres-road (the R301). Stay on the R301 for approximately 10km and turn left into Wolseley. Follow the road through Wolseley and turn left at the T-junction towards Tulbagh. Turn left onto the R44 to Voelvleidam and Wellington / Gouda / Hermon until you reach the R46 turn off on your right to Hermon / Riebeek Kasteel / Malmesbury. Turn right and stay on the R46 for another 2km. Do not turn into Hermon. You'll cross a railway-bridge and the bridge over the Berg River. Du Vlei turn off is on your right hand side, 100m after the Berg River. Turn right at the Porseleinberg / Vleisbank crossing. 200m of good gravel road and you'll be at DU VLEI!
From the N2:
Take the R44 off-ramp next to the Somerset Mall shopping centre on the N2 and follow this road all the way through Stellenbosch. Once in Stellenbosch keep on the R44 to Wellington via Klapmuts. Once you have passed under the N1-highway, follow the R44 for 20km until you reach a four way stop. From the N7:
From Cape Town, take the left turn off into Malmesbury (Bokomo Road). Turn left at the second traffic light and immediately turn right at the 1st street. Take the R45 to Paarl (the church will be on your left) and then after 4km out of town, turn left onto the R46, the Riebeek Kasteel / Hermon road). Travel for 21km on the R46, over the Botmanskloof Pass, do not turn off to Riebeek Kasteel. Du Vlei turn off is on your left hand side, 100m before the Berg River. Turn left at the Porseleinberg / Vleisbank crossing. 200m of good gravel road and you'll be at DU VLEI!
From Moorreesburg:
Take the left-turn-off onto the R311 to Riebeek West and Riebeek Kasteel. Keep on this road through Riebeek West and Riebeek Kasteel until you reach a T-junction with the R46. Turn left and travel on the R46 for 8km and turn left again at the Porseleinberg / Vleisbank crossing. 200m of good gravel road and you'll be at DU VLEI!
