I recently stayed at Smitswinkel Tented Camp, and it was a truly unforgettable experience! Nestled in the breathtaking Cape Point Nature Reserve, this camp offers the perfect blend of tranquility and adventure. The facilities were spotless and thoughtfully designed, making the stay comfortable and hassle-free. From well-equipped kitchens to clean bathrooms, everything was maintained to a high standard. The real highlights, though, were the stunning sunset views and the magical starry night sky. Watching the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky with vibrant hues, was a moment of pure serenity. As night fell, the lack of city lights revealed a celestial display so vivid it felt like being under a planetarium. The camp is surrounded by nature, with trails and wildlife adding to the experience. Whether you’re looking to relax or explore, Smitswinkel has something for everyone. I highly recommend this gem for anyone seeking a peaceful escape into nature. I’ll definitely be returning!

An amazing and affordable stay in a tented camp full with amenities. We especially liked the boma for a night braai under the stars and constellation. The views of sunrise and sunsets are stunning. We took an afternoon walk into the nature trail just outside the lodge. And the immersive experience is unique! What a beautiful location!

We went in Winter in June, while there was a rainstorm in Cape Town. A beautiful one night escape! The tents are very clean and well equipped with each having a personal kitchen ! And a deck for star gazing! the main kitchen / Boma was super well equipped and quite big to entertain a large group! This is a retreat that is perfect for a couple and a large group! We suggest spending at least 2 nights and take one day to visit the Cape Point reserve!

The location, facilities and assistance from personal were incredible. However, during our stay we had no water in the room and no hot water in the communal shower.

Comfortable beds with crisp clean linen. Very helpful reception and friendly too. Windy in March so tent flapped quite a bit.

The camp contact me to ask what I will be arriving on the Friday. The directions to the camp was not clear hence I got lost and I eventually arrived the staff were reluctant to let me enter. The reception was not friendly. The kitchenettes were not equipped with a kettle and it had no light to cook at night. Water in showers was intermittently hot and cold. I will not be visiting this camp future.

The ‘light on the ground' design of the camp is an inspiration - kudos to the idea behind camps such as Smitswinkel. It is well run, and staffed by the friendliest people I think I have ever come across in any accommodation I've been to. (Zizi and Agnes, you are very special!) The only tweak I would suggest is to inspect the gas geyser at the tents - ours went scalding hot for a minute with lots of promise, only to leave me screaming like a banshee under icy water a minute later. Please continue the amazing work you all do for these camps to survive. Ashley
